Tigger Three Wheeling

Image
This is going to be a little strange, but I love it. Then again, I've been known to be a little strange at times.... not often, but I make up for it when I do go into the land of strange. Penny, our 8 month old pup, loves to go outside. Loves the Outdoors. No wonders there. Tigger, our not-so-street-smart cat gets jealous when Penny goes outside. We tried those cat leashes, but Tigger turns into a paralyzed puss when the leash is on him; he hunkers down to the ground and doesn't budge. The only option we had was to hold him and hope our cloths would make it unclawed. Tigs still has his claws and they are lethally long and sharp. Don't even ask about trimming the claws, tried it and my mind-mannered cat turned into a lion. Sooooo, what to do? Penny gets to go outside but not fair for Tigs. (I blame this all on Greg, by the way... Tigs didn't even know what outside was and had no interest in the door until Greg came into my life and opened doors for Tigs too!) I&#

Morganza Critters

The Mighty Mississippi.... she's showing just how puny humans are with her swell and force. In the greater New Orleans area, we're watching the water rise. If it's not the waters from the gulf and hurricane winds coming up.... it's the Mississippi river waters coming down. We're surrounded. I remember a couple of years ago when the Bonnie Spillway was opened. A lot of people rushed out to see it...... now it's not just the Bonnie Carrie, it's also the Morganza Floodway being opened. Not everyone is nervous about the waters though. Nola.com has an article about a guy who catches crawfish (aka mudbugs, crawdads.. and *gasp* in some states "bait").... after the waters subside, "...crawfish will be everywhere." That will make the crawfish catchers happy little clams... they’ll be scampering after all the crawfish once the waters go back down. I can't imagine going to the levees and just plucking the little critters right then and

Pet Mountain Rocks

Roller Coaster Ride Day... ended with a mix of tears and laughter. One of those days, majorly stressed, very upset. Came home to hugs from my husband, which somehow soothes the world. Then I saw a box. It was the order from Pet Mountain. First time I ordered from them and the reason I decided with their company was because they had a good selection of Kong toys - the only type of toys that Penny can't chew to oblivion. I opened the box, took out a toy and saw some one dollar bills. I took out another toy and saw some more one dollar bills. I called out to Greg, "Did you put money in this box?" I thought for sure he did this as some type of strange surprise. He came into the room to see what I was talking about. The dollar bills were just thrown into the box - not in a bunch together or in an envelope - just loose all over the toys! Greg was just as confused as I was and wanted to know how much was in the box. 50 dollars. FIFTY dollars! WHAT?! We wondered if so

All You Can Art

My good friend, Kristen, purchased tickets from Groupon (2 for 1 price) for Rembrandt all you can art. Months ago we had mentioned doing something like this and decided this weekend was the time to put the Groupon coupons to use. We had so much fun! It was a full class, which I preferred, because it gave us more freedom. Everyone picks out their own paintings and the artists working in the shop go around to assist with the colors and how to do shading, etc. But basically, you're pretty much on your own. I like that type of artistic freedom. It's no surprise that both Kristen and I picked out Fleur de Lis to paint! Though the two are different styles and different colors. Like us - friendship so close that it's similar and just enough different with our personalities to make it fun. The manager of the shop came out and introduced herself, showed the paint brushes we would use and added, "There's a cup with water in it. This is to clean your brushes. Don'

Book Review CassaStar

Book Title: CassaStar Author: Alex J. Cavanaugh Alex is a fellow blogger and it’s from his blog that I found out about his book. What a wonderful treat! As the reader, I was introduced to CassaStar’s world with the right amount of information to imagine the world but not get bogged down by technological Sci Fi words and meanings. Alex Cavanaugh’s book has excellent character development. It's about dealing with the past, feeling acceptance, learning to reach for what we are truly capable of doing and having to deal with the pain of loss. Now, don't get me wrong, it's not just about character development, there's lots of Sci Fi action and it's definitely a page turner (I couldn't put the book down until I finished reading it!). The main characters are Byron and Bassa. Byron is determined to be a Cosbolt fighter pilot - the elite. He has to struggle against his past records stating his ability versus attitude (attitude being unacceptable with the elite and

Penny and Tigger

Whenever we see Penny and Tigger, it's often times Tigger taking a swipe at Penny. Greg said he thought they slept together but not when we are home. He wanted to put that idea to a test. We have a kennel that Penny stays in when we aren't home. Penny is still in the puppy chewing stage, hence the reason for the kennel. She's finally house trained, thank goodness! Greg's put his test into action when both of the animal were in a calm state of mind. Penny was in her kennel. He picked up Tigger and put him in the kennel with Penny! When Greg emailed me the pictures, I wrote back, "Don't torture Tigger. Please let him out." Greg wrote back, "The door is open to the kennel!" Greg wrote back "It was VERY casual and calm.. Tigger did not want to come out.. even when Penny left the kennel and came back in, Tigger stayed in the kennel. Crazy! I think they are closet pals... except when we are around. ..... Penny farted and Tigger left t

Happy Mother's Day

Greg said that the poem I posted yesterday made him feel sad. It's one of the reasons I didn't know if I should share it, because those are real emotions, but I don't like making people sad.... it helps though if I can get the feelings out. Writing is a wonderful thing in that way :) Today, Mother's Day, started off with a surprise and a smile. I walked into the kitchen to find this... I told Greg, "Thank You" and he replied, "I didn't do anything. It was Penny and Tigger." I giggled. He continued, "They took the Ford Edge to go get those for you." I asked which one of them drove and he said, "I'm afraid to find out." Had me smiling all morning. I thought the dog and cat wrote rather well ;) For our wonderful Moms, we sent flowers. We're so lucky to be loved by the Moms we have ~ I hope the flowers brought them a smile and lifted their hearts, because it's what they do for us. Thank you Mom (both of yo
