100th Post and GiveAway

Image
My 100th post ~ Woo Hoo ~ I figured I'd make it a special post about Wedding Preparations ~ At the end of this post there's a Give Away Contest! Fleur de Lis means "Flower of the Lily" ~ it's the symbol of rebirth for New Orleans. When Greg and I first started dating, he saw the Fleur de Lis necklaces that I made and commented, "You don't have anything with Fleur de Lis in your house." For my birthday, he gave me a beautiful artwork that hangs in the dining room. It has 13 different styles of the symbol and is an original from the artist. Once engaged, I knew I wanted to include the theme in our wedding. The wedding invitations went out this week. A lady on a bridal site worked with me on the design, to include the wedding colors: royal blue, silver, and the Fleur de Lis. I wanted texture. She knew how to emboss ~ which gave a raised touch and a vintage look. We also designed ribbon along the side. I thought it looked like artwork, but was concerned

Woo Hoo! I finally have a foto I can participate with Candid Carrie's Site! I give you, per Greg's description, "A Fairy Taking a Dump" (which I think is horrible, because I really thought it was a cute Thanksgiving decoration until he described it that way!)

Tennessee Vacation Oct 2006

Leafers, Dead Bodies, Cabins and Waterfalls ~ Sevierville, Tennessee Trip, October 2006 Our trip started in the early morning with Greg introducing me to the “best kept secret of Metairie,” the Lagniappe Luncheonette restaurant. I've lived in Metairie all my life but for 2 years in Slidell, yet somehow I never knew about this tasty treasure. Greg ordered a number of dishes that we split, including the best omelet I have ever tried! The onions and peppers were sautéed and the shredded ham was tender as could be, all held together by a thin layer of egg. And don't get me started about the pancakes, woah! So hush, keep it under wraps, but if you go to the family owned restaurant, don't skip breakfast! And while you're there, grab a smile at the various pictures. (I won't say what the monkey does by the cash register. I'll leave that for the curious!) We drove the majority of the way in one day, but stopped for the night singing the namesake of “Chattanooga Choo Cho

Talking Cat

Well, most of the time Tigger is a "Talking Cat." He's sitting at my feet right now and giving me that "pay attention to me" meow. He's not shy either. Anyone coming to visit has to pet him. I got Tigger from the SPCA. That was an experience. They don't keep the cats in seperate kennels. They put them all in one room. A big room with nothing but cats and claws. I was actually a little nervous about going into the room and I love cats. Kittens were playing with my shoe laces, other cats looking to be held, some more aloof. But Tigger, he walked up to me, stretched his front paws up and put them gently on my leg and meowed. He owned me. Tigs has this weird thing about mornings and late afternoons. Greg thinks he's just trying to warm up, but I think he's trying to get daily exercise. Tigger will dash from one side of the house to the other side as if it's imperative, absolutely needed that he get there as fast as his legs can skitt

One screen door is up ~ Woo Hoo! But it took Greg and I (yes, combined effort) FIVE hours to complete the door with all the bells and whistles. You’d be amazed at the extra trim, the little gadgets here and there that come along with the door. Here’s Greg after the door is finished, having a Tim Allen “Arrr, Arrrr, Arrrr” male moment. The reason it took so long to put the door up ~ the instructions were clear as mud. An example: “Position top of hinge side Z-bar 1/8” beyond top of door frame, slide the top hinge toward the bottom of the notch in the hinge side Z-bar to allow for contact with bushing. Mark top hinge mounting hole location onto doorframe edge through hinge hole. Using this height, measure down from the top of the hinge side Z-bar, which was marked. Mark a cutting line at door opening height and cut to length with a hacksaw at bottom of hinge side Z-bar." But the part that I loved best ~ after you should have all the pieces and parts and bits all put together, the VE

Dusty Butt

According to Greg this blog should have a new name, Dusty Butt. Or at the least, he has a new nickname for me. Mom and Dad wanted to give us our Wedding Gift early, so that we could enjoy it with this lovely spring (yes, spring) weather. Remember, Louisiana has only two seasons: Summer and Summer Lite. Greg is installing the gift right now. I love watching him handle power tools. Sexy Man! (Ladies, don’t you agree ~ it’s a turn on to see a man put things together, with the ability to do so while not cussing AND be competent in handling the tools.) The Purchase: We went to Home Depot this morning. I picked up Mom in my car and Greg went to his parents’ home to pick up their truck. We met at Home Depot. The gift is a screen door for the office section of our home. For some reason, that room is always the warmest and there is only one window we can open. Having a screen door will help the room to breath easier. But instead of just getting one, Greg agreed that having a second screen door
