Letter to my Son in the Gardens

Image
Dear Son, Your Mommy and Daddy are still learning, right along with you.  I like taking pictures of you and nature, flowers, etc.  We decided to go to the Botanical Gardens in New Orleans City Park.  It’s a beautiful place to go, lots of paths, greenery and flowers in bloom. We took plenty of pictures, but our lessons from this trip are: Don’t forget the stroller at the house!  You weigh 16 pounds and the car seat is at least another 5 pounds.  The stroller would have made things easier. Don’t say, “I’ll feed him after we walk around.”  Because the diaper bag was too much to carry when you don’t have the stroller.  So that gets left in the vehicle.  And you, my sweet son, let us know that you were very hungry!  I’ve wanted to get some pictures of you crying…. This was the trip for that. Even though it was 10 am, it’s too hot in New Orleans.  We missed the “spring” days small window and it’s gone straight to summer.  We were dripp

Pictures and Posts

For today, some pictures, some videos and some links :) When my mother-in-law saw this next picture, she said, "He has your lips."  I just love it when Gregory is asleep and he tilts his chin up.  I don't know why, but I find it adorable! I'm going to post a couple of videos below of my baby, but first to share a couple of links to other blogs where I post, if you want to take a moment... On my Garden Blog, take a glance at half of a Holy Spirit.   Click here or go to www.jardingrace.blogspot.com. On my Recipe Blog, I'm looking for assistance on bettering a recipe.   Click here or go to www.fleurdefood.blogspot.com Below are the videos of Gregory.  The first one my husband watched it and asked, "Is our son bi-polar?"  Noooo, he just knows that crying will get Mommy to hold him.  (And it's proof that my son does actually cry, though most of the time he smiles.  I like a happy baby!)  In the second video, just i

Smothered Chicken

Image
My grandmother gave me a cookbook way way wayyyyyy back when.  I decided to try some recipes from it.  The only change I did to the recipe was to add the cheese, to make it "smothered chicken." My husband gives it a solid 6 out of 10.  I'm open to suggestions on making this better. Ingredients: Boneless/Skinless Chicken Breast 1 tbsp melted butter 1 tbsp Worcestershire (my husband said to decrease this amount) 1 onion, sliced juice of 1 lemon (my husband suggested to increase to 2 lemons) flour garlic powder, salt, pepper, seasoning Pepper jack cheese shredded Slice onion and place slices in bottom of baking dish. Salt and pepper and season chicken and coat with flour.  Place on top of onions.  Mix melted butter, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder.  Pour this sauce over the chicken. Bake at 350 for 1 1/2 hours.  (If using a glass baking dish, bake at 325).  Baste with sauce every 20 minutes or until done.  Add shredded cheese and bake until melted Not the

High Tea

Image
My Mother-in-law is a member of a women's group that gets together monthly.  For May, they do a "High Tea."  My Mother-in-law bought tickets for her two daughters, Bonnie and Madelyn and also for me this year (yeah!) - it's her Mother's Day gifts to us :) The High Tea was served at the Rose Garden Hall.  Here we are signing in: The names for each person had a ticket on it for door prizes.  This tea is known for the ladies wearing cute hats, though we didn't (but plan on doing so next year, which I think will be fun). We were served Mimosas, Tea and Roses as we arrived to our table. In the picture below - from left to right:  Bonnie, Madelyn, MaryAnn.  Thank you so much!  It was a treat and loved the company! :) We had a lovely time with delightful servings of finger food. I tried to take some pictures of the crowd, maybe you can see some of the hats in the distance. While we enjoyed High Tea, Gregory was being spoi

Birthday Party

Image
My cousin invited us to celebrate her son's (Isaac) second birthday at her home.  It was the first time going to her beautiful house.  First we stopped by for lunch with my grandmother. I love all the decorations my cousin, Michelle, did for the party.  She made her own cake. She also made a train (theme for the party) out of Pampers boxes.  The light on the front actually works.  The kids got into the center of the Pampers boxes, picked them up and "walked" the train. Michelle had a little train set on the table where Isaac ate his cake and the train spelled out his name.  I loved that she made all the decorations.  And I love this next picture of Isaac reaching out for the cake.  In the picture, you can see Michelle's reaction to him reaching for the cake - priceless! Another picture of the cute birthday boy :) My husband said, "This was Gregory's first child's birthday party that he has attended."  He was

Video Share and Photo Booth

Have you heard of Crocodile or Alligator tears?  My Dad used to say that, "Don't give me those Alligator tears."  Meaning, they weren't real tears, that as a little girl I wasn't really that upset.  Lol. I've found that my son does the alligator crying.  Here are two videos: To view on YouTube, Click Here. To view on YouTube, Click Here. I was saying in the last post that I don't have many pictures of me with the baby, because I take so many of the pictures.  (People joke with me and say that my son will recognize my iPhone before recognizing me!!).... But now... I remember Photo Booth on the iMac, so I can snap a few of us together :)

Can you find the baby

Image
I have a couple of pictures to share.... this first I call: Can you Find the Baby.... or .... Pooh Explosion... (let's go with the first title idea) For Mother's Day, my son had on this outfit, totally true :) The day before Mother's Day I was taking a bunch of different pictures.  Gregory was smiling so much, I just kept taking the pictures... and I snapped one... that my husband says is his favorite... that would be this one.  (Any suggestions on a caption?) For Mother's Day, I received... MUD *... Lol.  It's true!  Gregory gave me MUD for Mother's Day and not the kind in his diaper (thank God).  The front and side gardens are filled and looking great.  But I wanted a new garden between the driveway and fence for lilies and irises... Greg had the grass taken out and picked up mud.  Yeah!  So this week, I get to start looking for plants :) And for Mother's Day... hehe... no dirty diapers for me!  WOO HOOOOOOO  Best gift yet!  My Mom se
