VERY early Gift

Greg said he was leaving for a little while; it was in the afternoon. I asked where he was going and he said, "None of your business." Well, now, you know that had my radar up. Not that I think he would do anything wrong, just that something was up. When he came back, he had a bag in his hand and refused to tell me where he went. Alright then. A few minutes later he walks into the office room and we had this conversation: Greg: "I bought your birthday gift." Me: "Already? It's not until October." Greg: "Do you want it now?" Me: (slight hesitation) "No. I can wait. October is a only a couple of months away." Greg: "But you need it." Me: "Ohh. It's a "need this gift" type of gift. No, I can wait." Greg: "But you really need this. I want to give you the gift." Me: "No, I don't want it." (backing away from him) Greg: "Pick a hand (he had both of his hands behind his back). G

After the carport crunch, I thought a cuddly picture was in order.... Is that just not the cutest picture? Pebbles has a puppy look to her, even though she 16 years old. When Pebbles moved in, it was an adjustment for me and Tigs. It didn't take long for Tigs to understand that Pebs wouldn't have the energy to catch him, which set Tigs at ease. Other than the here and there, slap (no claws) from Tigs to Pebs, just to say, "Hey, remember I'M the cat!" there hasn't been an dog/cat issue. For me, it took a little longer. Pebbles is a sweetheart, but she's a Daddy's girl. She recognized him as the Alpha and me as someone who was only there to make her happy. I'm a sucker for her big brown eyes, so if she wanted cuddling or brushing or treats, I was there. I'm not the Alpha type. If Greg didn't already have Pebs well trained, I don't know if I could handle a dog in the house. A couple of weeks ago, Greg said, "Pebs sees you as her owner

Carport Crunch

This past Friday I went home for lunch, as is typical. Drove up in the driveway, under the carport and pushed the button to close the carport garage door. It's typical for me to go home for lunch, gives me a moment away from the office to enjoy. I went inside, made a turkey sandwich and watched a couple minutes of the news. It was raining and thundering like crazy outside. I called Greg, to make sure he was safe and to warn him not to take a certain route in order to avoid the flooded streets. After looking at my watch, I figured I had a few minutes more before I had to head back to the office and logged on to my computer. It was then that I heard a horrible, horrible sound. I thought it was a rumbling thunder that seemed to last too long and was too metallic. I went to the side door, looked outside.... and I'm sure my mouth dropped. First phone call was to Dad... Me: "Dad.... I'm not going to be able to go back to the office. I have a SERIOUS problem." Dad: "

Day 8 Over The Falls Niagara Falls Tour The next two nights we stayed at a B&B on the Canada side. It was a Victorian style home, yet modern and fresh looking with large rooms. When the lady said there were two rooms with a balcony, R&R got one and Mom and Dad got the other. Then Greg saw our "room" and whispered, "That's OK, Aleta, I like our room more. We don't need the balcony." (The B&B keeper even winked to Greg when she gave him the last set of keys and he didn't understand until he opened the door.) Our room was the size of an apartment ~ with a front sitting room, kitchenette, bathroom that had a Jacuzzi and walk in shower and huge master bedroom even with a fireplace. Sweet! Later on we all compared the two B&Bs and agreed that the first B&B is the winner. The breakfast at the Canada B&B was always the same and nothing "hot" cooked, more like a continental breakfast and fruit. Plus, she didn't want people to

(Note: In the comments, Rush ~ you asked for more pictures. If you look at the top buttons on my blog. Click on Picasa Pictures. There are two folders for this trip in my Picasa pictures, because Picasa has a limit of how many pictures you can put in each folder. I'll add the link to both folders on the Part 3 in case you want to wait. But the pictures are there for viewing right now. Ummmm, LOTS of pictures, ok? Also, there are some funny quotes that I added under some of the pictures.) Day 3 – Unexpected Window Shopping and Duck Tour Day Three ~ Rush to the Duck Tour. We waddled our way through Boston streets, thinking it was only a 10 minute walk, but more like 20 minutes and then thinking we were going to be late (when the night before, I thought it was an afternoon tour and Dad said - no, it was a morning tour).... to get to the tour.... to find out... after all that rushing.... that it was indeed an AFTERNOON tour. Which left us with the morning to ummm, do something, but we
