Sunday Citar

This Sunday Citar is about art. "A picture is a poem without words." Horace I could say it's about adventure and learning as well. Saturday's beading meeting was taught by Bev. She's a fantastic beader ~ Master Beader! To learn from her is a treat, to say the least. Because we have so many new members, Bev came up with the idea of not just having Name Tags, but to BEAD the name tags. I was tickled when she said it would be a "free style" peyote. I haven't had the nerve to try free style. She gave us just enough instructions to start us off and then tips to take it away. And take it away, my muse did do. I was nervous after finishing the piece. I wrote to Bev and said, "I might need a new name tag to start over. I think I might need bead intervention." Yikes! Ok, be kind, please. I know it's a bit much, but I SO loved doing this. Bev responded, "This would make a great blog post. You are truly creating beadart!" Thank you, Bev,...

I'm participating in Tabitha's Sunday Citar ~ Visit her blog to see more pictures. "I know it's hard when you're up to your armpits in alligators to remember you came here to drain the swamp. " (Picture taken at my aunt and uncle's house in Lafayette. I will write more about their home in the next post. In the meantime, don't worry. Yes, it IS a real alligator, but it visited the taxidermist.)

Sunday Citar - Happy Father's Day

Image
Today's Citar is dedicated to my Dad. (Instead of a quote, I thought I'd share a brief conversation ~ because it's funny and Dad makes people smile) Dad: "I looked into that new Pet place. I asked them if they can kennel two cats while we're on the trip to Boston. The reception asked me, "How do you want them stored?" I told her, "Preferably stuffed!" Me: "Dad! You did not say that!" Dad: "Yes, I did" (laughing) "The receptions said - "Now, Mr. Grimball... Do you want a cage or a condo?" I was like... whhhhattt?" Me: "Wait. Did you say, a Condo for a cat?!" Dad: "Yeah, a condo. I couldn't believe it. I had to ask what the difference was." Dad: "It's a larger caged area that has space for two cats and stairs for them to climb and a place for them to play. They get 24 hour care with people there to take them out and pet them and play with them. It's a size of a large clos...

Sunday Citar Sunrise

I'm participating in Tabith'a Sunday Citar. Click here to see her site and join in on the fun! (post a picture to go with a quote). This Sunday ~ it's all about sunrise. Greg gave me a quote last week and it became an inspiration for taking pictures. Here's the quote he liked: "The sun, with all those planets revolving around it and dependent upon it, can still ripen a bunch of grapes as if it had nothing else in the universe to do." Galileo Galileo's quote made me think of the sunrise. So, at 4am yesterday, I woke up Greg. Yes, you read that correctly ~ me, the NOT a morning person, got up that early. We went to the Bonnabel boat launch on Lake Ponchartrain and snapped shots on my camera and the "honeymoon" camera. Greg then sent me his own quote (inspired by the pictures). "All problems lying on a modern minds gets washed away in an instant when gazing on the mornings light, reminding each of us that every day is a new beginning… a new cha...

I'm participating in Tabith'a Sunday Citar . Click here to see her site and join in on the fun! (post a picture to go with a quote). This Sunday ~ it's all about nature. (Oak Trees in New Orleans City Park ~ They survived Katrina with deep roots) "A few minutes ago every tree was excited, bowing to the roaring storm, waving, swirling, tossing their branches in glorious enthusiasm like worship. But though to the outer ear these trees are now silent, their songs never cease." John Muir (picture in Metairie by Lake Pontchartrain – sunset) "Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience." Ralph Waldo Emerson picture of a lily in Zachary at my grandmother’s home ~ for the quote and for my blogger friend, Lilly , who is an inspiration and joy to read.) "All my life I have tried to pluck a thistle and plant a flower wherever the flower would grow in thought and mind."" Abraham Lincoln
