About

This blog is a combination of Letters to My Son, Recipes, Vacations, Surviving Breast Cancer and Cake Decorating (had to leave the list with something positive).  You are welcome to use the search features, to browse.  A little about myself.  I am an older mom.  The doctors said I couldn't have children, but God had other plans!  At the age of 43, I gave birth to my son.  I thought I was going through menopause, before I found out I was pregnant.  Lol.  Oh how life has changed, having a child.  He keeps me young!  He is also my source of strength when I was going through dark times dealing with breast cancer.  When your child needs you, you find the strength.  My son also inspired me to delve back into art, a love and passion I had since I was a little girl.

I'm a daughter, wife, mom and mixed media artist!  Mixed media art makes my heart happy (which is great for bringing down blood pressure).  I have a separate blog for art, found here.  Most of my art is done in the evening and on the weekends.  As my husband will tell you, I'm not a professional artist.  Art is a healing joy.  My art blog will share more about the different types of art I've enjoyed from jewelry making, cake decorating, stained glass art... and now I'm trying glass fusion art and trying my hand at polymer clay.

During the day, I work for a law firm, handling billing for 8-10 attorneys and assist the office manager with accounts receivables and much more.  I'm fortunate to work with really good people, not only were the attorneys at work supportive through three surgeries dealing with breast cancer, but my boss went through the same including very similar surgeries and issues with recovery.  Knowing someone who went through it and is empathic sure does help.
  It's a community of support.

My husband and I did a lot of traveling when we were dating and before having our son.  Most of the vacations (New York, Alaska, Hawaii and recently, Italy) were by the generosity of my parents.  I love to travel, but I'm a happy home body too.  I hope you enjoy the blog!
