Happy Halloween

Image
Happy Halloween :)   What I'm wearing tonight (it'll probably weird out my husband to see the baby skeleton.... kind of weirds me out too!) Close up of the necklace I'm wearing. I made this a couple of months ago. Edited to add:  Greg came in and saw the top of my shirt first and said, "Look at you!"  Then he saw the baby skeleton and said, "That's just wrong."  But he was smiling the entire time.  He later remarked, "My sense of humor is rubbing off on you."

Baby Room Pictures

My husband has worked the past few days non-stop on the baby's room.  He wouldn't let me in.  Didn't even let my parents in for a peek at the room.  He wanted everyone to see it with as much "baby" things as possible - crib, dresser, wall appliqués, mattress, etc. Greg even came up with the idea of buying wood letters from the local craft store.  We painted the letters blue, then put them on the bottom of one window. Here are some pictures... walls painted blue and "Peeking Pooh" theme from Babies R Us. The crib and dresser are made of mahogany wood.  The crib is a "lifetime" crib, where it goes from a crib, to a toddler bed, to full sized bed, to queen size bed.  It's heavy wood and very sturdy. I love the rocker-glider... but right now our dog Penny thinks that Greg should hold her when he sits there!  Lol. To the right, you can see 3 shelves.  the two top shelves aren't as wide as the lowest shelf.  The lowest sh

Butterflies and Popcorn

Butterflies and Popcorn... not the things you see or the snacks you eat.  Rather, these are the things you feel.  At least, that's how it's been described to me, the first movements of a baby.  For a long time, I wondered if I'd ever feel the baby. I was at the doctor's office, waiting to be seen.  They had an extra long wait (over an hour and a half), because of switching over to an electronic system and all of the complications it's causing.  While waiting.... I felt a thump towards the middle of my belly and thought... "Hmmm, that's something new." Picked up a magazine to read and pass the time.... Thump again.. I thought... "Ok, what's going on in there?" Wait a few minutes.... start reading again... THUMP "Now this HAS to be the popcorn feeling the doctor told me about!"  When I saw the doctor and explained the feeling, she smiled and said, "Yes, that was the baby!  When you sit up straight for a durati

Note from my Husband

Image
It appears I can't stay away from this blog for long :)  So... I'm baaaccccckkkkkkkkk  :) My husband and I picked out a crib and dresser set, but we wanted to use a 20 percent coupon from Babies R Us.  If you make a purchase at that store, along with the receipt, a coupon prints out.  So, we bought a blanket that was on clearance and got the coupon. When Greg took home the blanket, he said, "Take a picture of the first gift we bought for our son." After placing an order for the crib and dresser, we went to Home Depot to pick out a color for the baby's room.  We went with "Cool Sky" - a pretty baby blue color.  The next day, I walk in the hallway and find this attached to the closed door of what will be the baby's room. Hehe.  My husband is "nesting" and wanted me to be surprised with the color once the entire room was painted.  How sweet is that  :)

Closing Blog

I didn't want to disappear from the bloggy world without saying something.  Everything is Ok with the baby and all is well.  I just feel the need to get off of the blog.  Most likely this is a temporary thing and I'll be back online in a few months. I'm leaving this message up for a couple of days and then will make the blog private until I activate it again. Take care, Bloggy Friends! Hugs :)

Slugs and Snails

.... and puppy-dogs' tails, that's what little boys are made of... or so the saying goes. Though I know my husband absolutely can't stand slugs, especially as the gardens attract slugs and my husband likes to walk barefoot outside...  When he comes inside with a certain expression (just ate a lemon look), I know he stepped on a slug.  Ewww. When we shared the gender reveal party news (BOY!) on Facebook, I was surprised when quite a few people responded with, "Boys are so much easier!" One of our friends explained it this way, "Boys break things, but Girls are more expensive." Though someone else pointedly disagreed, "Boys are expensive too, because they like computer games when they get older.  Boys and their toys." Then again, these days, Girls are equally hooked on those expense computer games and phones too! My cousin texted this to me:  "If you can stop boys from fulfilling their biological need to maim themselves as presch
