Las Vegas & California – February 2010 ~ Wait ~ Didn’t I just journal a trip about Las Vegas and California? This time, it was Vegas and Big Bear Lake. Our afternoon flight into Vegas was delayed by an hour, because of bad weather conditions. We went to see snow and on the day that we leave – 49 out of 50 states (Hawaii being the exception) get snow. Amazing. What is that everyone is saying because the Saints won the NFL Championship – Hell is Frozen Over. The first night of our trip, we stayed at the Trump Towers. The next day we ate breakfast at the Peppermill Restaurant and then went to see the Pawn Store. No, not Porn Store, though if you say it fast enough, it does sound like that. “Gold and Silver” is the location of one of Greg’s favorite TV shows. Greg and I went to Dot's Diner for super one night. They were decked out for the Saints as well. (I know, you're tired of hearing about the Saints, but I thought this was cute so I took a picture of it....) The waitress delivered our Diet Cokes and Greg took the straw out of the paper wrapper and then balled up the paper and threw it at me! I laughed and balled up my paper straw wrapper and took aim. Greg said, "Aim for my mouth..." Ok... so I missed... it went over too high and too far right... and right.. to the middle of the table directly behind Greg with two little old ladies sitting at the table. I was SO embarassed! I ducked my head, Greg laughed and took a picture of me on his iphone.

Here's an email that my Dad sent out about Valetine's. Just to get everyone in the spirit of love :) Saint Valentine - Who was he? There are varying opinions as to the origin of Valentines Day. Some experts state that it originated from St. Valentine, a Roman who was martyred for refusing to give up Christianity. He died on February 14, 269 A.D., the same day that had been devoted to the so called love lottery back then. Legend also says that St. Valentine left a farewell note for the jailer's daughter, who had become his friend, and signed it "From Your Valentine". Other aspects of the story say that St. Valentine served as a priest at the temple during the reign of Emperor Claudius. Claudius then had Valentine jailed for defying him. In 496 A.D. Pope Gelasius set aside February 14 to honour St. Valentine. Gradually, February 14 became the date for exchanging love messages and St. Valentine became the Patron Saint of Lovers.
