Letter for my Son

Image
Dear Son, Your independence is showing more every day.   You put on our shoes and you are putting on your own shoes too (when YOU want to)… and on the wrong foot, but it’s progress.   You also love to play with the Velcro on your shoes and will watch intently as Daddy ties the laces on his shoes.   Did I mention that you say the word, “shoe?” You aren’t where you need to be with words, but so far you say these:   Da, Car, Can (for candy), Tickle, Bubble, Pop, Kitty, Shoe, Cheese, Hat, Hot (for hot dog), Cook (for cookie) and Juice.   It’s a start and the more you are around children, I think you’ll pick up on more words. Which is why we have brought you to so many preschools lately.   We picked out the summer camp for you – Kehoe France.   It’s a private school, well established and well known in our area.   We met with the principal, owners (Kelly France and Kyle France, both guys grew up on the campus with their families) and teachers.   It will be an adjustment

Letter to My Brother or any New Parent to Be

Dear Brother, I have to start this letter by saying how happy I am for you and your wife!   You are expecting a baby, a little blue bundle of bouncing joy!   How wonderful life is!    Though the love is unbelievably incredible, that’s not what this letter is about… I’m not raining on the parade, but honestly, I wish someone shared what I’m going to share with you.   Now, keep in mind, this is based on my experience with my son.   I’m not you and your son isn’t my son.   It’s going to be different, naturally.   But as you read this, maybe some of it will stick, so that if it should happen, you will find it easier to deal with it.   You know, the knowledge is power kind of thing. First off, it’s a good thing you have some grey hairs, because if you didn’t, once you get to toddler stage and the child toddles back and forth and over, you will shed a few more silver strands.   (Our cousin, Holly, shared this, “When you have a boy, if you can keep him from killing himself, you’r

Baby Sitting Questions Article

With the help of my cousin, who is a Nanny to two girls, I was able to write an article to help parents with interview questions for potential babysitters.  The article was lengthy, because it's not just questions, but also Deanna's answers.  The length of the article was divided into two parts. Easter at Maw Maw's and Easter Morning

Image
My grandmother hosted an early Easter gathering at her home on Saturday.  It was wonderful to see family.  Lots of fun things to do and see for Gregory! Oh oh.... starting with the sugar the minute he steps foot into Maw Maw's house! He remembered where the M&M machine was located in the corner. FUN!  An Easter egg tree! Look, Mommy.  I found Opa's basket that he used when he was a little boy! And I can put ALL sorts of things in the basket. Oma is setting up pink and blue streamers for R&R's FaceTime to see if they are having a boy or girl. Walking outside on Maw Maw's property He tried to get into the tub.  Lol. Love this next picture - Gregory loved being in Opa's driver's seat.  He has a co-pilot too! Stopping for an ice break Time to go in for more M&Ms Yeah!  Relatives arrive! Once everyone arrived, Oma gets on the phone to FaceTime with R&R
