Borg and ET

Well, I think this is going to be shortest bloggy hiatus ever. Think there’s a record going for it? I wanted to share what it’s like to be a Borg and ET all in one. ET was one of my favorite movies when I was a little girl. Greg, wonderful man that he is, took me to the place last night where the sleep study would be conducted. He walked into the building and when we went into the room where I was going to hopefully sleep… we were both shocked. Greg said, “When I had my sleep study, the room was very clinical. This is better than a hotel room!” It was homey, with a pretty comforter, nightstands, dresser with candles on it, flat screen TV, pictures on the wall; it was soothing - very nicely decorated. I asked the sleep tech about the decorations and she said that they bought everything from Rooms To Go – they liked the complete setup and bought everything. Believe it or not, having it like that made a difference. It gave me a sense of peace. The technician, Kathy, asked if Greg ...

MIA Blogger

Greg said I should let people know if I was going to not blog for a while or if I was going to take down this blog. I'm not certain about taking down the blog, but I might be "MIA" for a while, not forever though - promise :) Nothing life altering has happened to cause the change. I guess with working out so much (just about every day now), my time is limited when I get home and the last thing I want to do is get on the computer. If you're on FB and you want to see what's up with me, I do drop a line here and there in the facebook world. I'm sure I'll get back to sharing when I write a trip journal or have something really exciting to share. For now, life is good. A quick update - I had eye surgery. A cyst was on the bottom eye lid and had to be removed. Surgery - scary as all heck! The doctor gave me two shots on the INSIDE of the eye lid - hurt like the dickens. And it still didn't numb everything. But that's over and I've recovered...

Made me Smile

Greg sent me the link. Had to share!

Greg is Certifiably

When I started dating again, my friends told me, "Make sure you get an application, a credit rating, a health form and a psych eval on the guy." It was the running joke, because I'm too trusting of people. That hasn't changed, thankfully, it's something that Greg actually likes about me - the trusting nature. I think he calls it "gullible." Today is the day (1 1/2 years married) that I found out that Greg is certifiably... SANE! WOOT! Yep, he took a real psych eval. How cool is that?! This was a requirement that he had to have, but I can't go into the details of the why's. But I just thought it was so neat that he was able to take the test! One of my degrees is in Sociology and a minor in Psych, so yes, I'm interested in this stuff. In fact, this morning, I asked Greg, "I'm curious what the test will show." Ok, so that came out wrong. Greg gave me a look that said, "Umm, EXCUSE ME?! What do you think the test will show, tha...

Working Out

Between reading books, I’ve started an exercising again. I say “between reading books” because having the iPad makes reading an addiction for me. It’s easier to hold (or “not hold” as Greg made the iPad stand for me) and so, so easy to purchase the books online! And, I can get a “sample” of 75 pages prior to purchasing a book.. so nice. Ok, enough iPad talk. Working out… I used to work out every day when I was in my early 20’s. 20 years later and I’m starting it up again. I loved working out back then and I’m starting to rekindle that same joy. It started when Greg bought a blue ray player, so I could use my exercise dvd’s. Then I went swimming at my parents’ home a couple of times. And now ~ I’ve joined a gym. It’s a small one but it has the equipment I need to get some cardio in, along with weight machines and a sprinkling of exercise classes to boot. Bonus – one of my coworkers goes to the gym too! She’s the one that told me about it and we’re workout buddies now. I’d lo...

The Movie Inception

This past weekend, Greg and I watched the movie, "Inception." I love movies like this, makes me want to go back and watch it again to see the details I missed and the clues that flew by me. Have you seen the movie? What did you think of it? If you have already seen the movie, click on this link to read a neat take on it! Don't click on it though, if you haven't seen it - major spoilers included.

Finger Painting

THIS brings finger painting to all new level... and it's done on an iPad.

4th of July Post

I've mentioned before that I'm working on the iMovies program through the Mac Mini. I really love the program. In going through some vacations, it's brought back a lot of happy memories. When I put this movie together, I thought it would be nice to share on this day. Though the second part is for New Years, the first part is appropriate.. Hope you enjoy.

Time Flies

Where has the time flown? Answer: Mac Mini and New Blog Greg says when I get into something, I really get involved with it... That's certainly the truth with my Mac Mini. He can't blame me though, because he bought it for me. :) Truth be told, I know he's happy that I'm enjoying the new computer. I'M A MAC! I know, I was a Mac when he bought the iPad for me, but the Mac Mini makes it feel more "real." OMG, I love Macs! It's a time sucker though. Right now, I'm caught up in the iMovies. I'm merging between iMovies and Keynote to mix slides and short movies of our vacations together. My first attempts are pretty lame and now that I have a better idea of what to do, I'm going back to revamp the first attempts. (Plus, I found some more movies to add...) The other time sucker has been a new blog. I'm not giving up this one. Fleur de Aleta is a journal for me, to share funny times and special memories. The new blog was inspired by an email ex...

Puppet Porn

Adult Content Involved Avenue Q ~ imagine Sesame Street music - la, la, laaaaa, la, la - Greg brought it to my attention that all of the songs sounded the same, except for the change in words. It's true! They have the same sing-songy, sing along with me, cutesy sound, yep, just like Sesame Street. The puppeteers used that "child voice" for the puppets. Hey, it's puppets and Sesame Street sounds, but.... that's where it stops. All those cutesy sounds don't match the cursing (which did make me laugh, you just don't expect muppet to say "Fuck" and "Shit" - all very appropriately timed as well..) and unPC topics, such as racism, homosexuality, schadenfreude (look it up if you don't know), porn (one of Greg's favorites - the girl/monster puppet was singing along about how she was going to open a Monster School and teach monster children about the Internet. Then a big Monster from one of the windows screams out "PORN". She t...
