Letter to my Son and Happy Mother's Day
Dear Son,
We went shopping together the other day, just you and
me. It was a first, both to the
grocery store and Home Depot. We
have been there before, but Daddy was with us. I wanted him to look at your car seat. I’m sure some people thought I didn’t
feel comfortable with shopping with you yet, but that is an assumption on their
part. I just wanted your Daddy
there to see if he could tell me how your car seat could safely be put on the
front of the shopping cart.
Your Daddy tried lots of different positions for the seat,
but nothing was secure. So, we
both determined you will be in the middle of the shopping cart until you have
neck muscle control. After knowing
what works best for you, I was happy to take you out. I parked close to where I saw a cart, so I wouldn’t have to
worry about the weight of the car seat and you (you’re growing so quickly!).
When I hold you, my heart melts. The other day you were sleeping on my shoulder after you had
a bottle.
Then, you started to squirm
down, off of my shoulder. You were
still sleeping. Then you squirmed
across my chest, still sleeping..
To my surprise, you further squirmed to my lap sleeping on
your belly. You stayed there
a good 45 minutes sleeping!
After that, you squired to your side and then to your
back. You opened your eyes with a
look of “How did I get here?” You
made me laugh!
Today is Mother’s Day.
My first Mother’s Day ever.
Your Daddy wanted to take us out somewhere fancy to eat. But Mother’s Day is always so crowded
at restaurants and I find that when places are crowded both the service and the
food suffer. Besides, I’d rather
it just be the three of us, quality time.
So, I asked that if the weather permits, we have a picnic at the
park. And if that doesn’t work
out, your Daddy’s famous chicken stew.
Thank you, my sweet son, for making me a Mommy. I thank God for You, our little miracle, in so many ways. You were a dream, a wish deep within my heart that I thought could never be and here you are.... I love you.
Love Always,
Mommy
P.S. Oma and
Opa will be home very soon and they are going to want to “steal some sugar”
from you. Opa calls you Tiger,
which I think is adorable.
Especially considering your Daddy was called that by Grandfather when
Daddy was a little boy. I guess
Opa is right… you’re already ready for LSU to play!
Wishing all Moms of children (and furry friends) a Happy Mother's Day!

I used to put the car seat crossways across the basket of the cart. Then I could still fit things underneath it, but it wasn't balance on the front which always made it seem like the cart would tip. That said, it didn't work in places like home depot that had wider carts... the seat wasn't long enough!
