For my son

One of the bloggers listed those "Five Friday Question" things and one of the questions.. can't remember the exact question... but the question went along the lines of "What is something you wish you didn't have to teach you child?"

For me.. I wish I'd never have to teach my little boy about why people are cruel.  I want to wrap him in a bubble and keep him safe from the world.  I know that's not possible.  I know one day someone will say something mean or hurtful to him and I will go all Momma Bear.

That is one of the hardest part of being a parent, I think. Watching your child get hurt in any way...emotionally or physically.
A while back, C wanted to play basketball. So we signed him up and he went to his first practice. Basketball was not something he and his daddy played, so the other kids knew a lot more. He didn't know what to do, so he got nervous and started sucking his thumb. That's his coping mechanism for stress. The other kids laughed at this. But he didn't even notice.

Oh that is such a hard and heartbreaking part of parenting. I so wish we could keep them safe and in a bubble forever, free from the realities of the world. But, since we can't, I'm trying to raise my kids to know the difference between right and wrong and where to turn for help if they, or someone they know, needs it.

I really wish the same thing for my son. I hate that he's going to have to be hurt by stupid people eventually. I know it's inevitable but, ugh.

I remember when my son (my firstborn) was an infant and I saw a TV show about bullying. The thought of my sweet baby being bullied just killed me!! So I know how you feel.
Something all parents have in common, no doubt.

Gosh, every time you post a picture I just cannot get over how perfectly gorgeous he is!
