What is Romance

Family and friends have asked, "Why haven't you updated your Fleur de Aleta blog lately?"

Because I'm sick. Literally. Sinus infection and Bronchitis. Not fun. No details will be given, promise. Who wants to read about icky stuff, right?

What have I been up to though? Other than typical house chores, working with my husband to get his house sold (it's still on the market), beading (will get to that in a moment), looking for a job (a story for another time) making my husband feel guilty that he doesn't buy flowers...

Oh, umm, what was that? No, I didn't try to make him feel guilty. It was just one of those moments. My husband's credit card information was stolen. The person used it to buy some weird things AND... flowers. That's when I gave a *snort* laugh and said, "Well, I KNOW that wasn't you, because you don't buy flowers!"

My husband doesn't like to buy flowers, because he says, "The minute the flowers are cut, they die. Why would I want to give you something that's dead?" OK, I see his point, but I figure.. hey, the flowers are going to die on the bush/vine/limb at some point, right? But I get where he's coming from and honestly, he enjoys stopping and smelling the roses. My husband even has patience when I want to take pictures of flowers (as long as they are still attached to a root system reaching the earth).

Anyway, I'm rambling.. back to the snort laughter and my comment about the fraudulent charge on Greg's card... He responded with, "You think I'm not romantic." Nooooo... I didn't say that. He's very romantic in how he notices things that make me happy, in wanting to enjoying things that I enjoy even if he doesn't participate in them (such as giving me his honest opinion about my beading and not just shuffling a "nice" to me when I show him what I'm working on).

That afternoon my husband went to the store and when he came back home he had his hands behind his back. He said, "I bought you flowers." I looked at him and said, "No, you didn't." I was quite serious too.

He said, "What if I told you I had flowers behind my back."
I replied, "I'd say you were lying to me."

He laughed and said, "I bought you something that proves I'm more romantic than flowers. I bought you something that will last longer than flowers!"

I thought and smiled, "Chocolate??"

Ok, so yeah, silly response in hind site, because NO WAY would chocolate last longer than flowers in this house!

My husband shook his head and showed me the gift.... CDs to the first season of "Game of Thrones" Yeahhhhh!!!!!

I read the Fire and Ice series a long time ago. My brother got me hooked on the books. We don't have HBO on cable and Greg knew I was waiting for it to come out on Netflix. We watched two shows of it last night. It follows fairly well with the book, though some adjustments were in there, most of the good lines are in use :)

The other series that we watched - Downton Abbey. I loved the first season so much that I told my parents to watch it. It's on Netflix as well. My parents watched the ENTIRE season in two days! Are they hooked or what? Mom asked, "Aleta, how did you find out about Downton Abbey?" I replied, "My husband." She was surprised...

See, that's romance... My husband read about Downton Abbey and thought of me and thought I'd enjoy it. Greg is spontaneous, thoughtful and yes, romantic. (Looking forward to when the second season for Downton Abbey hits Netflix :)

Back to beading for a minute. Greg will give his opinion... and he had a negative reaction to one particular piece... hehe. He said, "Everything is really pretty AROUND it..." then told me "it would be a good Halloween piece"... But yeah, No... I'm not going to wear it once a year :) To see what I'm writing about, click on this link, which will take you to my jewelry gallery. Scroll down to the third to last picture :)

Season Two of Downton Abbey is available on PBS. They have an app for the iPhone (and hopefully iPad) so you can watch it!

Game of Thrones-- I had bought the first book, but never got around to reading it. Then we bought Season One on DVD and watched it in TWO days! (Slight spoiler--the blonde guy who protects that blonde girl whose name I can't remember is on S2 of DA, as well)

I just read about someone else who had credit card trouble. Must be in the air!

Hi Aleta

Sorry to say this but I have a tendency to agree with Greg about the jewelry. The last 2 pieces are fantastic though.

My husband is romantic too. He use to get me flowers until I told him to stop. I'd rather he saved his money and take me someplace for a weekend. ;D
