Welcome to “ABC of Your State” ~ This challenge is based on friends and bloggers asking about Louisiana, as well as my interest in travel and learning about other places. Please feel welcome to join in.

~ Longue Vue House and Gardens. On the merging lines of New Orleans and Metairie, tucked away is a lovely home and beautiful gardens. The house reminded us of Biltmore, where we went for our honeymoon. I blogged about the house, if you’d like to read more, click here.

~Lafreniere Park. Want to get out of New Orleans and into more of the suburbs? Metairie is a great place to go. It’s as much of a restaurant meca as New Orleans. Lafreniere Park is one of the largest parks in Metairie and the drive goes around a lake. There are rabbits, roosters, chickens, ducks, geese, swans and all sorts of feathered friends living in the park.

~LPO. Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. If you’re lucky, you’ll be in town when the LPO gives a free concert at Lafreniere Park. They do this every year and every year, the locals come out, bring their lawn chairs, kids, food, dogs and enjoy the lovely music as they watch the birds glide across the lake. Greg and I have attended a number of LPO performances and always enjoyed them.

~ Lake Pontchartrain. It’s the largest inland estuary in the US. The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway spans 23.9 miles. My cousins used to marvel at how when they got on the Causeway bridge they couldn’t see the end of it. It’s a great place for boating or have a picnic on the levee. Or to catch some beautiful sunrise pictures.

~ "Le Bon Temps Roule" - It's French and means "Let the Good Times Roll." It's a favorite saying around here :)

I don't about marveling about the length of the Causeway. I'm terrified of it!
Wonderful photos! Crap, I've never even been to the Biltmore Estates.
