Laugh and Cry
I’ve been such a bad blogger lately! Vacation didn’t even correct the matter, most likely because time was needed to recuperate away from the computer. Also, any time that I thought I’d have free to type, friends called to meet me for lunch or there was a doctor’s appointment to go to, etc. All in all, a good vacation!
Instead of droning on and on about various things that happened, I’ll share a link for pictures recently uploaded to Picasa.
But first, this picture ~ makes me laugh and cry.
Cry, because of the pain – O.U.C.H.
Laugh ~ well, because it’s better than crying. And, because I KNEW better. People say, “Oh, Aleta, your skin is only slightly pink.” But I know my own skin. When I’m pink from being outside in the sun, it means that after my skin has cooled off, I’m going to look like a boiled crawfish. It’s not pretty. But what’s even worse?
I had on a necklace. The burn didn’t get under the necklace, so now it looks like I have a white ring around my neck! (Kristen, my loving friend of 30 years, ~ laughed ~ when she saw the white ring.) And hey, let’s make it a lopsided burn. Lopsided? Yes, that’s correct. You see, when you go to New Orleans even the natives know that you don’t hold a purse. You bring a purse that has a long strap, so it can go across your body. When you mix a strap across the body on one side with a burn, you get ~ a lopsided boiled crawfish.
Here’s a quick list of what’s been uploaded to Picasa, though if you have a moment, most of the pictures have comments that go with them:
-Jewelry I’ve worked on this past week
-Mother’s day at my parents’ home and at Greg’s parents’ home
-Governor Jindal’s wife’s visit to Mom’s classroom. We are SO incredibly proud of Mom. The only classroom that Jinda’s wife visited was Mom’s.
-Visit from Buddy and Roberta (Dad’s cousin and his wife) that live in Oregon.
-You knew there would be dove pictures again, right?
-More jewelry, my muse has been on a roll.
-Trip to visit my grandmother – she has a huge plot of land where she grows veggies and flowers and then a visit to my cousin’s home.
-Playing tourist in New Orleans – celebrating 30 years of friendship with Kristen – and the place of my sunburn. My favorite picture is the red paddle wheel/GNO bridge. Kristen went to smoke a cigarette and I looked over, saw the red splash against the gray sky and bridge and thought, “Ahh, that’s perfect!” I didn’t know if my camera would catch the picture and described what I wanted to Kristen. I’m tickled that it came out.
-Celtic Knot, a request of my hubby’s. Then he wanted another one in red and gold – only after I showed him the red/gold one, he put it up to his shirt, tapped it and said, “Beam me up, Scotty!” (Greg’s eyes got a little wide and continued, “Guess I didn’t realize how the Star Trek movie would affect me. We both laughed).

Oh and a quick, “Aleta, don’t you dare blog about that” moment ~
Rob and Roda came over to my parents’ home today. Greg was showing Dad another application on the iphone. Greg loves his iphone – honestly, he should get commission on sales, because he’s already talked Rob and Dad into buying the iphone as well. We heard Greg and Dad in the background about the iphone.
Rob pipes up, “I don’t like the iphone as much as the blackberry. You have to slide the button and then tap the screen in order answer the phone. That’s too many steps.” I couldn’t help my sarcastic tone, “Oh and that’s just TOO much effort to do!”
Roda replied, “He likes the phone. He brings the phone outside when I’m watering the garden and listens to the music and he listens to the music in the office too.” We laughed and I told Rob, “You’re busted by your wife!” Roda continued, “Rob, show Aleta your favorite application. My Girl Day.” Rob said, “That’s YOUR favorite application.”
He resisted showing me, but she insisted. Hehe. Do you know what My Girl Day application is…. Too cute.

Hope you don't get picture overload. I tend to upload the pictures once a month, all at once.
i love looking around your picasa site. im nosy. :)
your mom looks like the coolest woman ever.
Sorry about your neck, but glad you had a splendid time away.
Do take care !
I have the same kind of skin, and I can tell ya blotchy sunburns that blister and crackle are not pleasant.
If you don't have our kind of skin you don't have a clue as to what we are talking about. Lucky ducks!
Hey, Aleta. Remember a long time back when Greg chose me because of my wedding story - and I won the very neat purse holder?
You can come see pictures on today's post. We are celebrating 39! :-)
Your beadwork is really very beautiful!
That burn looks REALLY bad - OUCH! A horrible place too.
Have a GREAT day!
If I have any iPhone questions I'm asking Greg!!
That looks like a burn not pink at all.
