Kindness
Greg was going through pictures on his cell phone. He would look at one and laugh about a picture of our pets, then another one about a sunset picture. Then he came to one and said, “Who would take a picture of someone with a neck brace on?” Then he hit the delete key, thinking nothing more of it.
Another picture came up with a guy in a neck brace and Greg asked me, “Did you take pictures with my cell phone recently?” Nope. I couldn’t even tell you how to take pictures with his cell phone! Then he looked a little closer at the picture and said, “Wait! That’s me! I’m the one in the neck brace. Did you take a picture of me in a neck brace the day of the accident?” (If you are new to my blog, click here, to read about Greg’s car accident.)
Nope. I looked at the picture and said, “There are trees in the background. This was literally at the site of the accident. You are in your car. I wasn’t there. I saw you when you were in the trauma unit.” Then he remembered that Alvin took pictures of him when he finally found Greg’s cell phone.
A small voice inside of me said, "Thank you, God, for letting us see the pictures with Greg here, alive and well."
Oddly, the day that Greg saw the pictures on his cell phone was the same day that Greg went to see the lady who hit him in the other vehicle. We knew her address and name from the license plate. She wasn't home, but her daughter was.
Her daughter said that her Mom had back troubles, but was out of the hospital and doing well. From what she understood, the air bags did not deploy in her mom's SUV. Her mother told the state trooper that she lost control of her vehicle because of the rain.
Her daughter also mentioned how her mother had a bushel of okra in her vehicle. That her mom was concerned about the okra on the day of the accident. Isn't it strange the things that we think of?
Greg asked the daughter to let her mom know that he stopped by, that we were thinking of her and that his prayers are with her for a full recovery. THAT is the man that I know. This is one of the many reasons I love Greg. He wasn't angry with the person who hit him head on. He didn't need to forgive her, because there wasn't anger in his heart. He was concerned for her and offered prayers for her health.
Shouldn't there be more kindness in the world..

And I am not surprised about the Okra. I myself did a similar thing 20 years ago when my two wheeler had an accident because of an oil patch on the road. I was carrying 5 kilograms of freshly ground spices. After managing to sit up, lots of blood, gashes and all, I slowly trudged to the two wheeler to grab the spices container (very expensive raw material), and only then got into a vehicle going to the hospital, all this to a lot of shaking of heads amongst the shopkeepers and public , on the main road....
It would be a much better world if there were more people who could see it this way!
Have a wonderful day!

How amazing of him to be thinking of the woman who caused the accident. He sounds like a great guy!!
Hope you are having a great weekend - Kellan
Don't like the looks of the neck brace. Wow, I bet he had a kicker of a headache!
For the baked lemon pepper chicken, I use boneless breast of chicken and pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees. I rinse the chicken and rub it with a little olive oil. I lightly salt it and place them in a pam-sprayed pan. Then liberally sprinkle both tops and bottoms with flaked lemon pepper and bake for 45 minutes to one hour or until done (all ovens are different, mine is gas-not electric).
this is tremendous attitude and clearly demonstrates what is indeed possible.
this is just fantastic. Phew !

Hi Lauren ~ That's one of the reasons I asked Greg to email me the pictures after he found them, for insurance purposes. After we are finished contending with that problem, it's something I plan on posting about. VERY frustrating!
Hi Kel ~ I agree, it would be a much better world. He has a generous heart and truly worries about other people. He forgives and enjoys life. There are many people that I've seen who live on the opposite end of the spectrum and I wonder why they dwell there. Maybe it's a comfort zone, even when it's painful?
Hi Jennifer ~ He is a great guy *smiles* It was the scariest day of my life (and his). It was eerie to see those pictures at the time of the accident.
Hi Lilly ~ Yes, finally, the RIGHT man. I'm never let him go. I know he's the man that God had planned for me. I feel it with ever fiber of my being. He is doing much better now, thank you for asking. The hole in his arm has the thin layer of skin closing it in. It still dips down into the arm, so I imagine there will be a scar. It was something else to see how the body heals from the inside. Greg still can't lift anything heavy, because he could refracture his ribs. But he's able to sneeze and cough without as much pain, so that's improvement!
Hi Kellan ~ Hopefully you'll continue to get to know him through my posts. Actually, if you have time to go back into my blog, there are a couple of posts by Greg. He'll make you laugh.
Hi Debbie ~ I didn't like the looks of the neck brace on him at the Trauma Unit either. All sorts of worries went through my mind, but the most comforting thing to know is that I was with him then. He vaguely recalls being in the hospital, who was there and who wasn't.. mostly he remembers the pain he was in on that day. And thank you for the recipe!!
HI Hobo ~ Few words, much appreciated!
Hi Dysfunctional Mom ~ "husband to be" hehe. (We're getting married on Jan 3, 2009) Yes, a great attitude, one of the many things that attracts me to him.
Hi Kavi ~ Thank you for visiting. I agree with you that it shows what is indeed possible. A person can survive a head-on accident, have the spirit to heal and have the strength of character that needs to offer no anger and thus, no forgiveness.
Hi Vikki ~ Yes, it was... At one point I thought, "If... IF something had happened to Greg and I saw those pictures on him cell phone later... I would have lost it..." But, as it was, Thank God, it was with him sitting there next to me and of the day he saw the lady in the other vehicle. Sometimes you have to wonder about the plans out there, should I say "up there." *smiles*
Hi Pat Mack ~ With dear life and love, I am! I think so too.
Hi Lindsey ~ I understand the "strange sounding." This goes into my memories as "one I'll never forget too." Something interesting here, since you mentioned "right before we got engaged" ~ My brother and his fiance were engaged at the time that Greg was in his car accident. Roda (Rob's wife) said, "Our Philippine belief is that when a couple is engaged, they have to be more careful, because this is when bad things can happen." I'm glad their married and we'll be extra careful!
