Troll Duty
As a blogger, have you ever deleted a comment made by another person on your blog.. or deleted a comment that you left on another blog?
I was pondering this after I recently deleted a comment by another person on my blog. The reason for the deletion was a negative comment made by an anon. person towards another friend - it was an uncalled for attack. First, if you're going to be nasty on someone else's blog, have the courage to own it and state who you are. Secondly, don't piss in someone else's pond. If you have a gripe, get it off of my site and take it to your own blog. And Third ~ eh, no third, I figure those two are sufficient.
I don't mind different opinions. But ugly comments with the intentions of attacking, that's a hint for the delete button.
As for deleting a comment I've made on another blog - nope, never have. If I don't want it said, I shouldn't write it the first time, is how I figure it. I have seen a blogger delete a duplicate post and that makes sense. Not long ago, a blogger who I don't know IRL but is somehow "out there IRL" (difficult to explain, but the person is connected to a past, but not through me)... anyway, this blogger posted a comment. Which I didn't mind in the least and I even sent an email to the blogger and seemed all was well. The blogger then deleted the comment and unfriended me on FB. No biggie, no feelings hurt. Never met the person IRL and it's for the best, considering the person was just an internet associate.
Both situations got me thinking though. I've been fortunate not to have too many nastiness on my blog and for that, I'm grateful. What about ya'll ~ have you ever had to deal with a troll?

and i agree with you, i love differing opinions, especially if it starts an interesting discussion within the comments, but no nastiness allowed. and the same rules apply to myself when commenting elsewhere. politeness counts.

The only time I have deleted a comment of my own is when a flaky keyboard double-posted one.
I always regard a blog as a bit like holding public office - people and the press may say anything they want about you, but the only way it hurts is if you give it credence. That has worked for me.
Have a good day everyone
No one's ever been nasty on my blog, though, which is good, since I'd probably delete my whole blog and go live in a cave I'd be so upset...
Rejection of comments is a logical way !
Anyway, I have been very blessed to have really great readers and commenters, even the 'anonymous' ones. And, of course, I always try to be kind to everyone and treat them like I want to be treated. I have only deleted a couple of comments and it was only when I made gross errors in spelling or grammar and I noticed only AFTER I had already posted. I wish Blogger had a feature where you could go back and edit, maybe for even just a few minutes after you post. *sigh*
Thanks for the great post! I hope you have a great week! Oh, I'm hosting a PAY IT FORWARD Give-Away! I'd love for you to come check it out!
Blessings,

I subscribe to the "If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all" school of thought. Or, like television, if I don't like the content I change the channel. I don't know why people have to be hateful. And I have no patience for "Anonymous" commenting.
I've only deleted two comments in the past year-- One used really bad language to make a point (I mean realllly bad) and the other was on a rant that had nothing to do with my post.
The thing that surprises (and pleases) me is when someone leaves a nasty comment, the following commenters usually take them to task. I like how bloggers stick up for each other.
Have a great week.
