Jellicle Cat

"He's a Jellicle cat!"

If you've seen the performance, CATS, you'll understand the reference. My parents bought tickets to for the family and we went to it last month. T.S. Eliot mentions Jellicles in his book, "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats," which references cats who are playful and sweet, but also have a nightlife.

Ever since the performance, Greg calls Tigger a Jellicle cat. I think that's so cute! And probably close to true. Tigs is a "chill cat." But he gets wild-eyed at times and runs through the house as if he's on a mission to get to every room as fast as he can (and as if someone is chasing him when nobody is!) or he'll meow for Greg to pick him up and take him outside. (The cat has us trained.)

Tigs is totally spoiled. In the morning, Greg brushes Tigs for a good while. (Though Pebbles gets jealous.)

Tigger ~ waiting for his invitation to the Jellicle Ball.

Isn't that suddenly racing through the house a common trait of Siamese cats? I know I read a book series concerning the main character and his two Siamese cats, Yum Yum and Toto (oh dear, can't remember the main cats name, Brunn is the author), anyway that is one of their traits, plus my sister has one and if I hadn't told her what to expect, she said she would have carried Trip to the vet.

It's their job to screw with you head. Mine run from each side of the apt at odd hours. KC LEAPS up the door jam ...at what? I bet yours is noisier than mine tho.

I love that musical - I saw it a LONG time ago in L.A. when it first came out. (More than 25 years ago now that I think about it... wow.) When I got a dog I named her after one of the cats in the show.

I've seen CATS 4 times and have the soundtrack. At the first performance I took my then 15 yo daughter and we were front row-center aisle seat . One of the cats came down and sat on the floor beside her and let her pet him. She was on a high the rest of the week.

Aleta, I wish that Blue Heelers and cats got along -- I might have another kitty if that were true.

Looks like your Tigger is very contented, and no wonder!

That is fun, and too cute. Both are great names. And I think 'chill cat' is totally adorable. I would never be able to name my cat that, however. :)
