Day 23 NaBloWriMo Mary Ann, the Painter
My mother-in-law is an amazing painter! She's talented ~ breathing life onto the canvas. She has a soft texture, yet depth in her artwork. Mary Ann, my "second mother," as Greg says, works with all sorts of mediums from oils to watercolor and anything in-between.
Just recently Greg and I went to the Art Show where Mary Ann had her work on display. (Have I mentioned that she's won countless awards and sold her paintings?) Her subject matter is as varied as her media, from paintings of fawns to flowers and family members.

She recently became interested in making prints of her paintings. We're hoping to help with the pictures. I also think it would be a great idea for her to start up a blog. Once she does, I'll be sure to share her blog address!
One night we went to visit Greg's parents and as I stepped out of the vehicle, I saw this beautiful yellow rose in Mary Ann's front garden. Greg said, "The picture won't come out. It's too dark." I took the chance and used the flash. When I showed Mary Ann, she asked me to send her the picture. She made a painting of it and I absolutely love the painting! When we were at the Art Show, that particular painting was on display. I took a picture of it and Greg said, "You realize that you are taking a picture of a painting of a picture?" Hehe. Yes, I know. It's just that the painting looks so real, I could almost smell the rose!
If you look at the picture of my mother-in-law standing next to her paintings, one of my favorites is on the second column from the left, third one down. The painting is so real, I feel as if I could step right into the scene. It's calm and soothing to the soul!

My husband's side of the family has a lot of painters, too. My mother-in-law, an aunt and a sister-in-law are all wonderful painters. I love having their paintings in our home.
