Cuban Food

Tonight, Greg and I went to Churros Café, where he introduced me to Cuban food.

The service was great and the food ~ oh so yummy! I tried some of Greg’s Cuban sandwich and he tried my entrée, Congri Yucca roast and cassava root. When our waitress took note of Greg using salt on the cassava root, she remarked how, "Most Cuban food does not have a lot of salt, because Cubans tend to have high blood pressure."

We met the owner of the establishment, José. He came to America to be a welder during the 70’s. He tried to go to Miami for a welding position, but it actually paid $ 2.00 an hour less than Louisiana. (That was a shocker to us, consider most Louisiana jobs aren’t paid the standard norm in other states.)

I’d definitely go back to Churros Café. It’s nice that Greg enjoys going to new places and introducing me to various cultures and tastes!

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.

Hi there, lovebirds!

You all have a great weekend, too. Sounds like you're off to a good start! Never tried Cuban myself ~ not even sure where there is one around here (horrid grammar there, but it's Friday night!). I'm talking restaurant of course!

Anyhoo, be good and don't get into any more trouble than you can stand! ;-)

One of my favorite things is going to different ethnic restaurants to try their food and understand their culture.
You can tell alot abhout a people by the food they eat.
Its doesn't really cost that much more than going to McDs or any of those other fast food joints and the food is better.

Look at those newly weds! You two are way to cute for your own good, Aleta. You're so lucky.

I've had Cuban Food. They sure like to smoother 'everything' in gravy, huh? I do love the fried plantains. I hope you had those with your meal. If not-definitely ask for them on the side the next time you go.

I wonder if one can get Cuban food in Mumbai. I will find out.

In case you wish to try some sweets, go eastwards to Kolkata or to Delhi's Bengal Market! Highly recommended for newly weds!

Best wishes for a long and happy married life.

Cuban food, reminds me of the "I Love Lucy" episode where she was going to cook for Ricky's mom who had come to visit from Havana. Lucy was going to attempt to make Arroz con Pollo. She had no idea that was just plain ole' chicken and rice. Hilarious.

I think I would like one of those Cuban sandwiches. I have watched Food Network and the one Paula Deen makes sounds like it would taste delish, but I have yet to have authentic Cuban food, much less authentic Cuban anything. The middle of south Alabama is not a cultural hotspot, mostly just rednecks and they eat squirrel and possum, but I haven't tried those either.

We ate there again last night. I tried the cassava root and the ropa vieja. The kids enjoyed sweet plaintains and papa rellenos.
