Purse Mystery

What’s in YOUR wallet or Purse? I saw this on another blog and thought it was a neat idea, so I figured I’d share as well.

The first time Greg went to my purse to get something out, he asked if it was OK. He came back saying, "That is the NEATEST purse I’ve every seen." Not that it was "cool" neat, but just well, neat. I don’t like to carry a lot of stuff in my purse. I see women that lug a kitchen sink and the makings, don’t know how they manage it!

Ok, so here’s what’s inside: my pink camera (love it), my "little black book" – yes, I have one of those. I just don’t trust the cell phones to keep my info, plus it has addresses and emails, etc, my "flat" wallet with pink Fleur de Lis. I’m not a person who has to have pink, but what the heck, it was different. Makes it easy to fish it out of my purse when it’s that color.

Greg’s car key, lipstick (though, I recently found out that most lipsticks have fish scales – EWW), lip gloss (Greg absolutely can’t stand gloss), Listerine spray, my keys, a 25.00 gift certificate (still good through Nov 11, I'll have to remember that), sunglasses, my phone, pen and paper (because you never know)

Yep, it’s simple, maybe a little boring. But it makes my life easy!

Oh! Greg just brought me a shake that he made. Yum! Ingredients (when you use what’s left in the refrigerator):

Ripe Banana
Frozen Reese’s Cup (Yep, he had some in the freezer)
Almond Extract
A touch of Splenda
Milk
Ice

I know, you’re wondering, how will those things taste good together? Oh, but it does! We named the drink "O'Brien Blast."
Speaking of names, I came up for a name for Greg's new vehicle - Ellie. Ok, that sounds strange, but he named his Ford Explorer "Dora" and wanted a name for the Edge. I thought Ellie was sweet and I hope she treats him right.

Hi Wep ~ Thanks. It's a simple stuff in my purse. I like to be able to reach into my purse quickly. I think it's a safety thing for me - the faster I can get things in my purse, the less likely someone can think I'm a target. After Katrina there were so many issues with women's purses getting stolen, etc. in store and grocery parking lots. Helps to keep things simple.

Hi Lauren ~ Come on over! Greg made plenty! :-)

Hi Aleta,
I'm with you.My friends have kidded me for years saying I carry 'Barbie Purses'. It's all I need.

When I was working, the cool thing was that I could slip my purse in brief case. When I went to lunch mid day, I wasn't hauling the office with me.

I think the smoothie sounds good.

OMG-that is a neat purse! :)
I wish I could keep mine that way...it always gets out of hand.

That shake sounds yummy, and my last car was named Ellie. :D

Hi Vikki ~ What a neat idea to be able to put your purse in the brief case. One of the reasons I like the flat wallets is because it makes the purse less bulky. And oh yeah, the smoothie was good!

Hi Jessica ~ I was almost embarrassed to share how neat it was! I clean out my purse almost daily, but the negative side that I’m SO horrible about keeping receipts. I give them to Greg now if it’s something we’ll need in the future potentially. I really do like the name Ellie for a car, don’t know why, but it works!

That really is a neat purse. Mine has discarded gum wrappers, toy army men, bouncy balls, half-eaten cookies that have been stuffed back in the wrapper ...

Can you tell I'm a mom?

Maybe someday I'll get my purse back!

Oh my that IS neat. I always have misc stuff in the bottom of mine...especially receipts.

Lord knows I got bunches of those.

That drink sounds like you could freeze it and make it into ice cream - yummm !

Amazingly neat purse, wow Aleta. Mine is filled with old receipts and my wallet and keys and occasionally a bottle of nailpolish :)

Your purse is neat Aleta. I try and do the same after years of doing the opposite - I have red and black things in mine too. And I love your red camera too!

Who would have thought - of putting those ingredients together but it sounds good. It's a bit far for me to come for a taste test but I might have to try it myself. I love experimenting with smoothies.

No way I'd be blogging my purse. Old used tissues from when I had no access to a bin or pockets; probably enough change to refloat all the US banks; old cough lollies, eyedrops or painkillers (still in their wrap, but not in good enough condition to actually use) Heaps of miscellaneous pieces of paper with notes on that are no longer relevant; 15 biros and about 25 biro lids; a half-dead lip moisturiser that has attracted dusty grime.

Boy do I need to clean it out more often!

Could you give me a lesson in "neat purse"? Mine is a disaster...
That smoothie sounds great! Anything with Reese's cups sounds delicious...

The first thing I thought when I saw the contents of your purse or handbag as we call it was OMG, look how neat it is.

I'm with Hippomanic Jen. Mine is a disaster and sometimes I'm almost afraid to put my hand in there :)

Cute wallet - Personally I don't carry a purse unless I'm going somewhere all dressed up. My wallet, on the other hand - that has everthing a girl could want in there. hehe

Have a great day!

Nice! I don't think I could get a picture of everything that's in my purse right now. I just started looking through it and, oh my, I really need to de-clutter!

That IS the neatest purse I've ever seen. I'd be afraid something alive would crawl out of my garbage pile.
You said it: that is one tidy bag!

Omg, i think I would be embarressed to take pictures of what is in my purse. LOL. I have way to much stuff in there. LOL. Reading this makes me want to organize mine, LOL.
I hate carrying a purse. I like my hands free - and a purse will never stay on my shoulder. I end up with a back pack purse. But then I have to take it off my back to get stuff out of it. And like Brandy, mine is full of receipts. I don't know why - I just need to throw them away!

Geeeez, compared to my wife's, your purse is nearly empty!

Looks pretty neat your stuff from the purse and I love the recipe of the shake as I believe it is sugar free and also it sounds nice. Looks like you are pretty much an organized person. I don't carry a black book, all my data is on my HTC Touch which I synchronize with Outlook on my laptop for backup.

In opening my purse, you'll at first see only my wallet. Underneath it, is a few store reciepts that can surely be thrown out. Other then that, a pen, a peice of paper, chap stick and the house keys. That's it. I don't like to fuss about looking and rummaging either, in/out. Done.

Smoothie: OOhhh, I'll have to write that one down. :)

My purse is an open mine field. Won't go there.

Why is it that guys have to name everything, especially their cars. My dad's car was Ole Betsy.

I think the rear end of cars at night look like faces. My daughter used to laugh at me when she was young as I described the face on certain cars until she was able to "see" it for herself.

I like the names Dora the Explorer and Ellie Edge. I like my Toy Taco (Toyota Tacoma).

Just wait until you become a grandmommy ("Mimi" in my case)... At that point, you HAVE to have pencil and paper; sugar-free gum; old pictures for the kids to look at; and a small container of kleenex (or wet-wipes)! :-)

I like to change purses out often, 'cause it helps me clean out the old paper, gum wrappers, torn pictures, and used kleenex out of the bottom! Ha Ha!

funny to read this... just the other day I was telling my wife how "weird" it was going in to her handbag (we have an endless running joke on how many she REALLY needs, everytime I find a new one nonchalantly hanging on the stand) to look for something.
"Keys, wallet, sunnies, phone and camera" is my mantra when leaving the house. No more - no less, so good to see someone who keeps things simple.
