Greg’s request ~ I’m blogging about this, because it was my oopsy. Did you know that jury duty summons are being served now? It used to be through the mail only. Now they knock on your door and "you’re served." I didn’t forget the date, but I don’t drive to the Westbank. The roads over there might as well be on a different planet as far as I’m concerned.
Greg was sweet enough to say he would drop me off and pick me up at the courthouse. We woke up early and Greg had to deal with me being grumpy (never consider me a morning person). When we got there, he pulled over a bit from the building because of construction and I walked the rest of the block, not very far.
When I finally found the room (much nicer than what it was pre-Katrina), I learned (along with another group of people) that "if we had called, we would know it had been rescheduled." That’s right, all that drive out, waking up early and Doohhh, none of it was necessary.
I called Greg on his cell phone (wonderful creations those things) and he turned back around to pick me up. Needless to say, when he realized I hadn’t called to find out about the jury duty, I was ribbed ALL the way back home!
We had to make a stop on the way back to his mortgage company to make a payment. I waited in the car and he came back, "I have to find 'such and such' an address, because the mortgage moved as of today."
The handy-dandy GPS was taken out and the address plugged in. He said, "I don’t know where this is supposed to be now." We waited in the parking lot for the GPS to figure the directions and it comes back it’s only 15 yards away. I look up, point to the building next to us and there it is! Hehe. The GPS probably thought we had a few too many!
A few picture shares, the water nozzle broke. Instead of buying a new one, Greg built a neat sprinkler system! It runs from the hose and goes up the side of the patio cover and then along the top of the patio cover and sprinkles down like rain. It’s cool, because a sprinkler from the bottom is useless if it doesn’t reach the top potted plants! I love how creative Greg is and how sweet!
I thought I’d share a picture of where I make my jewelry. Greg built the desk for me. I LOVE it – great lighting, plenty of space and all my material within arms reach. I also finished another bracelet. This one is a bangle made from brick stitch. Then I ran a wire through it to get the round shape and added the embellishments on the end. Not difficult, but very time-consuming.
To end this post on a funny note, I’ll share a few snippets spent with Greg’s family. We went over to Bonny and Greg F’s (not my Greg, but Bonny’s husband, Greg’s brother-in-law, Greg) house to celebrate Father’s Day a day early. We were sitting at the table and Corey mentioned the idea of "Save the Date" magnets and added, "But it’s not necessary if you’re having the wedding soon." Greg quipped in, "Yeah, we want to have the wedding before Aleta starts showing!" I just about died! The table got REALLY quiet and I busted out laughing saying, "No, no, no! I’m not pregnant!" Greg really comes up with some things! He keeps me laughing.
Then, later, Greg’s Mom asked Corey about her new bed set and if it was set up. Corey answered, "Yes! It’s ready to rock and roll." Of course some comments were made including, "Greg and Aleta, you want to try it out." Greg shooting back with, "It’d take 45 minutes of me begging. Aleta calls that foreplay!" And then Madelyn (Greg’s younger sister) saying, "NOOOOO! I didn’t want that mental image!" While I’m turning beet red, but it was all in jest and having fun.
I still laugh to think of Greg saying, "before she starts to show" and their reaction. Hehe. Good thing he didn’t do that with my Mom, she would have been upset with it being a joke! Aww…
To completely switch subjects, my poem was published! I was sent a notification that I’ll receive a copy of it. If you’d like to see where to order from, click here. I like how the front of the review is of a women and she's wearing blue and well, looks like a bride. Yes, most brides wear white, but the colors for our wedding will be blue and silver. Hopefully I can find a blue evening gown.
We set the date ~ a winter wedding ~ January 3, 2009 at our home. Father Ken, Greg's childhood friend, will marry us. The plans are coming along, but when we think how it's only 6 months away, there's plenty left to do!

Well maybe Greg knows something that you don't know yet...(LOL)
Dont Men have perfect timeing!!, they seem to know just when to say the wrong thing(LOL)
Well done on getting your poem published, and a big congratulations on your coming wedding...6 months is not long...so you had better get your skates on (LOL) :-)
Thank you for visiting my blog and for your kind words and wishes. I stopped by your blog as well and appreciated your words.
I promised myself I would make up for this when I retired. I just served jury duty for the first time in my life a year ago.
The expecting joke-. Did he think this was a shotgun wedding? (You and Greg need to think of some really funny retaliation)
Your jewelry- Really beautiful work and congrats on your poem. This is a very exciting time for you and Greg.
Best wishes,
Vikki

Doug
and thats a beautiful piece of jewelery :)
Oh, and that's awesome about your poem getting published! You're just full of good news these days!
There has got to be a better way. I am racking my brain with that...
Kayce
Have a good day.
Hi Lilly ~ As a matter of fact, Greg does have an older brother. He comes from a very nice family, very sweet people. You asked if I sold my jewelry online ~ no. I thought about it. I have some pieces in one of my cousins’ stores, but I don’t know if the price will cover the expense and the labor. I’d rather just make jewelry for the joy of it. I have some ideas for wedding necklaces already!
Hi Doug ~ Nice to see you here and enjoyed your blog as well. I used to dabble in oil and watercolors and wish I had more time for both.
Hi Sayani ~ Thank you for your kind words. I should receive a copy of the book and am excited to see my poem in print.
Hi Kel ~ I have a lot of ideas and friends are coming up with some great suggestions for decorations. I think about it now and say, “This sounds great!” But it’s going to be a lot of work…
Hi Jen ~ So good to read your comments! I love the winter season. Maybe it’s because in Louisiana, it’s more like fall. I love the cool weather and especially the Christmas season and New Year. Thank you for your kind words!
Hi Kayce ~ I think anything having to do with the government or politics or system that we have in this country is covered in red tape. I wonder how people manage to be government employees, what they must go through working in that environment?
Hi Sukku ~ I was once on the jury seats and almost was ready to be picked to serve jury duty. It was a murder case. I wasn’t picked because I told the attorney that I would not be willing to sentence someone to death if found guilty.
Hi Mommy ~ I’m curious, did you write a letter of apology of your own will or were you told that you had to write a letter? That’s funny… they would want a letter of apology but they don’t mind canceling last minute or apologizing for taking you out of your schedule and things to do.
The 'Starts to Show' bit is hilarious.. :):)
