Bird Brain

I’ve heard of the nesting syndrome, the empty nest syndrome and such. You could definitely say that Greg and I have nested, given our home merging and garage sales. It seems the local dove that coos like an owl has decided to join us. I have a "bird condo" built from Katrina wood, but the lovely dovey didn’t find this a generous dwelling and instead took residence on the garage door motor!

She stays in the nest with her egg until the door opens and we drive out. Now, here we are, spending all that money on construction and we’re tempted to park the cars outside of the garage in order that the dove have a safe haven. Lol. In the pics, to see the egg, look at the reflection.

Below the egg picture, I'm also including updated pictures of the table that Greg made, as well as the concrete painting that we did to make the patio look like tile.
By the way, we no longer have a sandbox backyard (not seen in these pictures).

Love the bird! How funny!
Did you guys paint the concrete or did you have it done? It looks great! And the table is lovely - good job Greg!

Hi HB!

We painted the concrete ourselves. I'm biased, but I love how it came out. The first layer is paint for concrete but it was too light. Then we mixed in redwood stain and it made it a terracotta color - perfect!

How funny! I understand not wanting to disturb her, you wouldn't want to send her and her kids to a shrink!

Hi TW!

Lol. Can you imagine what the bird would say to the shrink?

"Every morning and afternoon, there was an earthquake like clockwork!"

Sad update.. we came home one day to find that the egg fell out of the nest. How sad.... My friend reminded me some strange places that doves have nested in her home-- one nested on a wreath on her front door and every time they opened and closed the door they got flapped by the dove!
