Ups and Downs

Image
This morning we headed to the church for Gregory’s Baptism at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church.   Family and friends filled five pews and Gregory was in a good mood.    The baptism was to take place during the 10:30am mass… after the first reading, the choir started to sing. But something didn’t sound right.   The choir staggered to a stop and people turned to the back of the church.   A man was gasping for breath.   Father AJ asked, “Is there a nurse or doctor in the church?”   Our friend, Sally, was one of the three nurses to assist.   CPR was given to the church member, Clifford.   Father AJ lead the congregation in prayers for Clifford and his family.   People were crying.   Father AJ asked for a moment of silence and prayers as the ambulance arrived.   Father AJ came up to our pew and said he wouldn’t be able to continue with the service and if it would be ok to postpone the baptism.   Of course we understood.   There was such sadness in the

Article about Baby Proofing

Image
The article I submitted for baby proofing the house was published, right before Gregory's birthday!  How exciting is that?  There are some cute pictures of Gregory in the article.  I'd love to get feedback on if there's anything I missed for baby proofing ideas.  We're still in the processing and realizing now that Gregory has a very long stretch/reach and once he is walking... oh heaven help us! Click here to read the article . Gregory was playing in his crib, so I took a few pictures... Tell me, can you see the TEETH marks that our son is leaving on his crib??  When he gets older, he will want to fix that, being the bed is a lifetime one.  Lol. Mommy, I want the camera! Noooo, I didn't make those teeth marks.

Birthday Gift from Gregory to Us

Image
Yesterday was our son's first birthday party... and instead of us giving him a gift, he gave us a gift!  (But I'll share that at the end of the post via video :) After Greg got off of work, we went to Chuck E Cheese.  I've never been there, so it was cute to see how they have it set up.  I can picture bringing our son there again when he gets older.  While we were there, Daddy ate pizza (Mommy opted for the salad bar) and Baby had the bottle. Then the mouse/rat Chuck E came out with a birthday cupcake.  Gregory kept smiling at the mouse.  Daddy helped with the candle. And the cupcake?  Gregory went to town!  I have pictures below and a video of him too :)  But the REAL gift - was from Gregory later in the afternoon... keep reading below.... To view the video on YouTube, click here . When we got home, it was still lovely and just enough light in the day, so I took Gregory for a stroll in the neighborhood.  Daddy went to take

Gregory Turns One Today

I can't believe my son is 1 year old.  His life has been counted in days, weeks, months and now... years.  I have known my little boy before he was born, his movement in my stomach during pregnancy... and now, at night when he cries and I bring him into the bedroom, he still kicks my stomach as he moves around to get comfy.  Lol. It's fun to feed Gregory, because he likes to feed Mommy and Daddy too.  If I put my head near the tray and open my mouth, my son will feed me a Cheerio!  He gets this sweetest little look on his face, as if to say, "I'm sharing.  I'm giving.  I'm taking care of you too." Gregory is furniture walking like a pro.  He will stand without holding anything if he doesn't realize he's doing it.  When he realizes he is standing and balancing on his own, he slowly - as in very slow motion - start to bend his knees and make it back to the ground.  It's funny to watch. Though today is my son's actual birt

Happy Valentine's Day

I’ll be honest, the past week has been craptastic.   Sinus infections are no fun and worse when your baby has a cold too.   Feel sorry for my husband as well, because my mood swings were all over the place on cold medicine.   Yikes! Yesterday I started to feel a little better and I’m hoping today will keep with that improvement.   Late yesterday evening the baby fell asleep on me and I dosed off too.   Neither of us was sleeping well because of our colds.   At one point I thought for sure that I heard my husband in the kitchen baking something, smell or sound, but when I asked him about it, he said he wasn’t.   I figured it was just the medicine playing games with my sinuses. As we were putting the baby to bed, I looked in the kitchen and saw the Valetine’s Day card and the heart shaped cake.   Awww, he did that for me and kept it a secret to surprise me.   My husband said, “I have more of the cake in the freezer.”   I asked why there was more.   He explained that he mad
