Cooking Baking and Baby

My husband asked me twice on two different days, "Have you updated your blog yet?"

The second request made me realize it's been a while.  So, today, while the red sauce was cooking.  (A request by my husband as well.  He says it's better than restaurant red sauce  - Woot!) .. I decided to update my baking blog and Fleur de Aleta.

Have you ever tried the Greek dessert, Baklava?  It's sweet and yummy.  Greg and I made this for our contribution towards Thanksgiving meal at his family's home.  Did I mention that it's sweet?

I posted the Baklava recipe here.  Greg had me laughing a couple of times while we made it.  He swears he'll never do that again, because it does require some time.

For Christmas, I ordered an ornament for Gregory on Etsy.  Etsy rocks with it being small businesses.

Not long ago, the three of us went to JC Penny's and took family Christmas pictures!  The photographer did a good job with Gregory.  Whenever our son sees something new, he gets SO serious.  He wants to analyze everything.  Even a new toy.  Just today I put a new toy in his pac n play.  It was mixed in with his other toys.  A few hours later, I forgot the new toy was in there when I put Gregory in the pac n play what does he do?  He zoned STRAIGHT to the new toy!  He started talking to it and holding it in every different view that he could and then chewed on it.  Too funny.

Ok, back to the Christmas pictures.  We ordered the Christmas cards from them.  This is how they came out (I ordered the CD so that I could have all of the pictures.)

Baklava... I've made it too. It is very labor intensive, but a labor of love for sure. The first time I made it, I left it in the oven too long. It wasn't burnt, just not right. The second time was very yummy.
I find that my favorite desserts are all labor intensive: baklava, creme brûlée, and tiramisu. But making them is still fun!
Btw, NOLA Greek Fest has baklava served with ice cream on top.
I love the ornament and the family photos! I have never even tasted baklava =(

A perfect Christmas card! Don't forget to save one for yourself. Usually I end up sending all my Christmas cards out and don't keep any for myself! Ha! I actually tried Baklava just a few years ago for the first time and have really grown quite fond of it. Haven't attempted to make it myself, however. Enjoy the holidays. You have a beautiful family :)

I know that I haven't been commenting at all since before Thanksgiving. Things have been rather odd here but are now starting to straighten out. Gregory is so cute! And all that red hair! :)

I'm laughing, because I don't see the red hair, but my husband says the same thing.

Aleta, you Christmas pictures are adorable. (but seriously, your little guy can't take a bad picture). I always buy the CDs too, as I would never want to miss having all of the pictures that were taken.
