I am Mom

Before when I thought of May, I focused on Memorial Day, because that was when Greg proposed and it made the month special... Of course, May is for Mother's Day, but before this year, it was bitter sweet...  sweet because I dearly love my Mom and I am happy to celebrate that with her.

Bitter sweet... because of the miscarriage I had many years ago and with the thought that I'd never be able to get pregnant.  My sister-in-law, Madelyn, used to greet me on Mother's Day by saying, "Happy Potential Mother to be."  Again, a bitter sweet, sad feeling would well up in me.

God had His plans and His timing.  This year, I get to celebrate a very special Mother's Day - my first as a mom.

The other day, I had to call the pediatrician because our son had his first set of shots to be given and I wanted more information.  The receptionist took the message for me, asking the baby's name and my name.  When I gave her my name, the receptionist started calling me, "Mom" - i.e. "Ok, Mom, I'll have the doctor call you back in the afternoon."  She said the word three times and... it felt pretty darn wonderful!

On another day, Greg was in his bedroom with our son and I was in the front room folding laundry.  Greg called out to me, "Are you coming in here soon, because Gregory won't settle down."  I replied, "Be there in a second, just a few more things to fold."  Greg called back, "He needs Mom."  Awww.

I have a new name.  Mom.

I love being Mom.  I can say that with all the baby blues chased away and I might get teary-eyed now, but it's because it's so sweet now.. not bitter sweet.. just sweet.  Sweet blessings from such a little miracle.

Kisses from my son....

And if these two pictures in this post aren't enough for you and you want BABY OVERLOAD... (you have been warned).... I have three links to share with you below.  All of them go to my Picasa site:

1)  Baby 1 - these are pictures from the birth through the first couple of weeks.

2)  Baby 2 - more baby pictures - LOTS of baby pictures

3)  Movies - warning - first few are from the birth, skip those if you don't want to see it.  But the rest are some cute movies of the baby.

Your post is so true. I waited for so many years it seems to hear those words... from anyone! Now my girls say "mama" and know they are talking to ME! Its surreal at times. And now sometimes I do (and don't) want the "Mamas" to stop because thats all I hear all day long! :)

Being called mom is the best thing in the world. I know exactly how you feel. Mother's day was such a dreaded day for me for years. And the first Mother's Day when you're an actual mom is so special. You are very blessed. :)

AWWWW...I am so happy you have the opportunity to be a MOM. That is sad that there were years that you doubted that it might happen.

Your pictures are beautiful. I, especially love the smiling ones. Little Gregory has such a beautiful smile.

they kept calling Jake "dad" in the delivery room right after Sydney was born. He had NO IDEA who they meant. Haha! It really took him a while. Mom is the best name ever!!!! Happy early Mothers' Day to you.

The name suits you so well. Being a Mom is the best feeling in the world. So glad the blues have been chased away. Enjoy every minute and mother the way you want and if that means holding Gregory a lot just do what feels right. Every baby and mother are unique. X
